License and how it’s bound to the hardware

Hey,

We're using Dataminer in AWS where EC2 instances come and go. We want to assign and recall licenses to them appropriately. For that, we need to know whether the license is bound to a MAC address or something else.

Hi Andrew,

For now, you'll indeed have to make sure the MAC address remains the same, but we are working on licensing via the dataminer.services cloud connection. So, there are changes on the way to make this more easy and flexible.

PS: Soon we'll also provide DaaS (DataMiner as a Service) where you can easily create a new DataMiner system fully managed for you. And also STaaS (Storage as a Service) providing storage in dataminer.services for your DataMiner System, replacing the need for Cassandra and Elastic. The latter is scheduled to become available next month.
