We're running the no longer supported DM 9.6 with MySQL and need to upgrade but continue with MySQL (until we have a Cassandra/Elastic Cluster in place).
I read that 10.2 installer no longer contains files for installing MySQL but would it be possible to upgrade using the latest 10.2 upgrade package?
Would it even be possible to upgrade to 10.3? I'm a little confused whether it supports MySQL or not.
Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately i don’t think it’s possible due to the heavy load. The upgrade with MySQL would be an intermediate step just to be on support before migrating the whole DMS to new HW-platform with Cassandra/Elastic cluster.
You can follow one of the several upgrade paths mentioned here - a sample one is upgrading from 9.6 to 10.3 : DataMiner 9.6.x to DataMiner 10.3.0/10.3.x | DataMiner Docs.
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that you’ve updated that section, it answers my questions. 10.3 still supports mysql then.
Yes indeed, MySQL is still supported in 10.3.
Hello Bert, if MySQL is still supported in 10.3, should we update the docs? On docs, we have the opposite information: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/Databases/Configuring_storage_per_DMA/MySQL_database.html?q=mySQL.
Please correct me if I am wrong and thanks in advance for your attention
Hi Carolina, unless I’m mistaken, I believe you are talking about MSSQL. That is not MySQL, that is Microsoft’s own database.
That is correct Arun, I am sorry for misreading it! Thanks for your confirmation
Would it be an option to run Cassandra on a local DB without having to rely on MySQL? Depending on the resources available on your server, since 9.6 is no longer supported, you might want to consider a migration of the old DMA to a brand new server
