In an environment with external authentication configured (Radius), the user always gets a login failed message as Dataminer is trying to use the windows user credentials for the access.
Is there any way to prevent that and go straight to the login screen?

I gave it a try by disabling the 'Remember me' checkbox, but it still automatically tries to log in with the domain user.
I don't believe it's currently possible to disable the behavior that it automatically tries to log in with the domain user.

AFAIK Cube indeed initially tries to log in with the current Windows user, if that fails, it should show the login screen without any error. In this case Radius seems to be used, so it seems to behave differently with that external authentication…
