How can I recover an element (and optionally it's data) that I incorrectly deleted from the system.
Is there any documentation? e.g. to recover a single element from a previous backup?

The following actions were made, but the element does not working properly.

  • Get the files from C:\Skyline DataMiner\Recycle Bin
  • Put them back in the Elements folder
  • Restart the agent

Hi Mieke,

Based on this previous question, I don’t think it’s possible to restore a single element from a backup.

https://community.dataminer.services/question/back-restore-with-history-alarms-but-without-trend-data/

You stated you restored your element from the recycle bin, but it’s not working. Can you please specify what is not working?

If you have a full backup somewhere, you could restore that backup on a temporary system and use a delt export to move it back to your “live” system.

Hi Ive,
The restore trial from the recyble bin didnt work.
I had my element back but in only one service (the one from which i deleted my element) and unable to navigate and edit anything since it didnt created a “real” element. (no right click menu, not present in surveyor)

Then i created an element with the same name and configuration, reapplied my services from a service template, but datas are not showing up in services. (It seems to link well since element ID changes to the new one in the .csv ).
It is strange because parameters index that i’m using didnt change, so everything looks fine but isnt working as expected. (datas are present when i check in the tables directly from the element).

I had the idea, as you said, to recover from a temporary system but will i have the same element ID? there’s hundred of services so i’d like to find a way to not redo everything one by one haha

Thank you for the answer. Regards

Hi Mieke,

There was a similar question asked sometime back : How to recover a deleted element - DataMiner Dojo.
Perhaps the answer by Brent will be useful ?
