Verifying use of gRPC

Hi,

We are running DataMiner 10.4 and want our clients to use gRPC connection method. As this is not default we have changed ConnectionSettings.xml at put type=GRPCConnection.

It seems to be working, because we no longer get the "revert to polling" box when logging in.

But just to make sure - how can we verify (in logs or elsewhere) that we actually are using gRPC ? In cube logging it's not completely clear what to look for.

p.s. Will connection with browser (edge in ie compability mode) also support gRPC? We have only tested with Cube desktop client.

/Roger

Hi Roger,

You can verify the connection type in the About window in Cube: in the connection tab there should be a mention of GrpcConnection in the Atributes (line 11).

The desktop version and the browser (XBAP) version of Cube are functionally equal, both support gRPC. Do note that the XBAP version has been end-of-life since 10.3 and has now been phased out as of 10.5.3 feature release / 10.5.0 main release (release note).

Thank you for the answer!.
We try to shift the organisation to use cube desktop client, but we do have some users that use DataMiner very rarely and just have to check something once in a while – and for those people it has been very handy to just connect with their browser instead of having to install a desktop client.
