Generic Ping Monitoring (TCP) vs Generic Port Monitoring

77 views15 hours agoGeneric Ping Generic Port TCP

Hello All,

With the goal to monitor the status of a port at a particular IP address, is there a practical difference between a TCP ping using the Generic Ping connector (where IP and Port can be defined) and using the Generic Port Monitoring connector?

Would TCP Ping be considered partial monitoring whereas Port Monitoring would be definitive?

Thank you in advance!

In terms of port monitoring functionality there is no difference between the 'TCP Ping' monitoring in the Generic Ping connector and 'Port' monitoring in the Generic Port Monitoring connector. Both make connection attempts to ports(TCP) to check for availability.

What could sway you either way are the other features that come bundled with the connectors.
