Hi Dojo,
I am currently experiencing a problem with embedding a Dashboard and Dashboard components into Visio and am getting
the following results:
I have tried a few things to check and remedy this:
- I have added Options UseEdge into the shape data but I get the same results
- I have checked that I can access the same URL directly from the DMA and I can
- I have replaced the URL with https://www.google.com/ and this worked completely fine, which gives me confidence the shape data is correct
I am using the embedded URL as the documentation states, and this is the shape data:
Could you please let me know why I am experiencing this issue?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Arun,
Just to be sure, did you follow the steps (more or less) described in this tutorial? Embedding a connector dashboard in Visual Overview | DataMiner Docs
If you don't have an input to pick, you can leave some steps. What I can see is that the embedding typically came with a query parameter, whereas your link has the 'embed' text part of the URL and not as a query parameter. Is this the name of your Dashboard that you are trying to embed? If so, can you try to include the '.dmadb'?
Kind Regards,
Jarno
Hi Carys, The link I provided is a tutorial, which explains how to tweak the URL to pass dynamic values/filters to your Dashboard link.
The link you are using is the ‘basic’ version that explains one feature that was used in the tutorial. This is explained through points 4-6 in Step 1 of the tutorial.
Kind Regards,
Jarno
Hi Jarno, I’m not entirely sure that I understand. Both the Basic and Tutorial show different ways of how to present the URL. What I’m specifically after is how to embed a Dashboard component which doesn’t seem to be explain in the tutorial, are you please able to advise?
Hi Carys, now I get why you are confused. I did not know you were interested in only embedding one single component. If you are not interested in the full Dashboard, you can embed a component by following the link that you have provided. When including it in your Visio, make sure to include the ‘#’ in the front of your URL.
The tutorial was really created with the intention to embed the full Dashboard. There are certain similarities, but also differences, but the overall idea should be the same.
1) You need to copy the link that you’re willing to use for embedding your component
2) Prepare the URL for use in Visio (e.g. if needed, specifying dynamic values such as Element ID)
3) Create Visio and embed Dashboard
If it is not working, feel free to create your own question with some more details so that we can help you further.
Kind Regards,
Jarno
Hi Jarno, thank you that’s very helpful. The original question is mine (as are the screen grabs!) Arun just posted on my behalf. I think I am embedding the component as the documentation describes but it isn’t working unfortunately
Many thanks
Hi Jarno,
Thanks for your response, I’ve been experiencing this issue and been using this documentation which seems very different to the link you’ve sent, Is the documentation that I’ve been following incorrect?
