Is there already a lot of compliance in the industry with NMOS IS-04 and IS-05, i.e. do many products support it already? And where exactly does it fit in with DataMiner? Is this part of a specific module, and what does it allow me to do?
There is a list available with registered product at AMWA (product owners of NMOS). So in general there are not that many (at least registered) that use the NMOS at the moment, however it is gaining popularity (especially in broadcasting as it is designed for that industry) as there are some big advantages in standardizing Discovery & Registration (IS-04), Device Connection Management (IS-05) and others that are currently not available in standards. So in general devices can be controlled and monitored through the NMOS specifications (it is not a standard yet, that is why some companies are still waiting to implement it or to use it). We already have some protocols that can monitor and control devices through NMOS. In most cases you will have a “Broadcast Controller” which is typically used for a system that tells items of broadcast equipment what to do (and which could also support NMOS). DataMiner can be used to monitor such a broadcast controller, however you could also write your own broadcast controller in DataMiner. Then DataMiner will do the complete orchestration of your broadcast environment.
