Dashboard Sharing – what are the limits?

Solved629 views8th August 2023Dashboard sharing

The functionality enabling dashboards to be shared between organisations is great and really powerful for business-to-business collaboration.

In today's world, we should all be using multi-factor authentication / single-sign on technologies (Like *.dataminer.services does with the Microsoft, Amazon, Google & LinkedIn authentication)... and organisational security policies forbid the use of shared user accounts and passwords.

Some questions:

  1. Is there a limit to how many people that a DataMiner dashboard can be shared with?  If so, what is that limit please?
  2. Is it possible to share a dashboard with *@example.com to authorise any SSO-authenticated user in an organisation to have access, or does it have to be done individually?

Hi Alex,

  1. there is no limitation in terms of functionality, there are limitations depending on the business model that you choose to deploy DataMiner.  If you are on an perpetual use with your DataMiner System, then it depends on your dataminer.services subscription dataminer.services tiers - DataMiner Dojo. If you are on a subscription plan (DataMiner Pricing - DataMiner Dojo), then dataminer.services is included, but note that the shares will generate traffic and that drives part of your consumption.
  2. No, that is currently not possible yet, but being considered.  But for now, you can only share with named individuals.  You could share with a generic mail address, that multiple people can authenticate against, but that would not be considered a good practice of course.  But we thought about other types of shares, so your input on this is definitely going to be appreciated by our Product Owners so that they can properly prioritize their work to deliver as much value to the user community as possible.

Feel free to circle back if anything above needs further clarification.

Ben
