There is quite some Cube functionality not available when a user logs in via web browser, is Skyline planning to make all that missing functionality available via web browser or any alternate user access (Dashboards, etc)?
Hi Enrique,
For DataMiner version 10.2 or below, you can still run DataMiner Cube browser application (XBAP) in Microsoft Edge (in IE compatibility mode) after configuring some settings (instructions here).
Keep in mind that from DataMiner 10.3.x onwards, some new features will only be supported in the desktop app as stated here.
That being said, as Glenn already mentioned in his comment, you should try the Cloud Remote access and see if it fits your needs.
Hola Enrique, the 'mobile UI' that Glenn is referring to higher is an existing lightweight HMTL5 client user interface that is designed for people within the same organization whose primary responsibility is not necessarily NMS/OSS related, and is described here: Client Architecture - DataMiner Dojo. Meant to be applied on mobile phones and tablet PCs. Hope this helps.
Hi Enrique,
I guess you mean our html-5 mobile application. This application, like Glenn mentioned, has a different use-case than our Cube application.
The Cube application is our most complete client, which has all the features and possibilities.
The HTML-5 mobile client is meant for quick access, for example in the field. It's also built to display data on smaller screens.
We do not intend to implement the same amount of features as in Cube on this client.
Hey Enrique, not sure what the purpose is of your request but fundamentally both interfaces do have a different use-case.
– The Cube app, is our default app where you as an administrator next to consumption of data, have access to all the configuration/modeling functionalities to setup/configure/grow a dataminer platform
– Today next to the cube we’ve our web based consumer interfaces, ranging from our mobile UI to the dashboards and today low-code APPs. These interfaces more and more are the UIs to consume the data. The low-code APPs do play a big role here. The benefit is that they are purpose, native build, easy & fast.
Did you know that we’ve today capabilities such as ‘DataMiner remote access’. Where you ‘remotely’ without the need of a VPN securely can access the web-based parts (dashboards; apps; etc). Here is more info: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Cloud_Platform/RemoteAccess/Cloud_Remote_Access.html
And even more interesting is a brand-new functionality called- Remote Cube access… allowing you to access DataMiner Cube remotely, without the need of having VPNs (obviously in full security)… maybe that solves your question? https://community.dataminer.services/new-cloud-services-that-enable-faster-support-are-on-the-way/?hilite=remote+cube
For the latest, just get in touch.
