Connect to a different agent using the same cube

Dear community,

I used to run DataMiner Cube in my browser and I was always able to connect to a different agent using the same cube. Currently I’m using the cube standalone and I don’t seem to find a way to do this. Is this still possible and if so, could you tell me how to connect to a different agent?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Try the following:

  1. Sign out with your user in Cube
  2. Press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT
  3. You should now see the DMA name at the top of your login screen change to an editable dropdown containing the same thing.
  4. You can now edit this field and login with the same Cube you used before.

It’s a VERY hidden trick, I know. That is of course because you might be connecting to an agent that is not compatible with your current Cube. So therefore, use at your own risk!

Extra hidden trick: hold shift during Cube startup so it doesn’t automatically log you in.

This one should not be hidden! 🙂

I guess the recommended way is to add the different DMAs on your Cube home screen.

And you can get back to your home screen by signing out, and then on the login page click on the back arrow next to the name/URL of the system you’re currently trying to connect to. On that Cube home page, you can easily add different systems by clicking on the plus sign on the right hand side.

I always just start a new cube session with a different connection, as I often want more than one system open. But indeed it is nice to have the way to ‘switch’ the current session to another system less hidden would be more intuitive & convenient.

Tom’s trick starred as a “tip” in the documentation.
Now, it is not so hidden:
