Advanced Search Inconsistent Results

When some of our users are using the advanced search function pinned to the sidebar more results return than expected.

Our Cube is set up to only retrieve View results (despite All types being displayed in the dropdown box). Some operators, however, are also getting element and service results). This means they need to sift through those to get to their desired View result.

I cannot see any noticeable difference in use setting between users for whom this does and doesn't work so looking for any ideas anyone might have.

I have attached two images as an example. I am also wondering why the 6063 Nannup Devices View is coming up in the 'working' example. I cannot see any 2040 reference in the view that would result in it being filtered out for display.

Thank you! 🙂

Hi Tom,

Do you notice a difference when selecting the View filter in the combobox instead of All Types? Or when you change the search filter to view 2040? Using the view/service/element keyword infront will only return results of that type.

Different users might see different items if their permissions do not allow them to see certain elements.

View 6063 Nannup Devices might be showing up because its actual view ID is 2040. You can quickly check this by looking up the ID through rightclick > properties.

Could you elaborate on "Our Cube is set up to only retrieve View results"? Where exactly would this be configured?

Thanks for the reply, Bert.

Selecting the View filter will only return Views. Our operators, however, search on over one hundred sites a day, so selecting View from the dropdown each time, or typing in view before the site number, adds a considerable overhead timewise to the execution of commands. It is for this reason that we have only Views coming up in the search despite the All Types being selected in the dropdown menu. I am not sure how this has been configured.

Thanks for the Nannup explanation. Should have thought of that myself 🙂

Sorry, Bert, I should add that this happens to users who have the same user profile and therefore permissions. I couldn’t find any difference in permissions between users for whom this happens and for those it does not. Thanks.

Hi Tom, can you check following settings on the MaintenanceSettings.xml file of the DMAs?
https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/DataMiner_Agents/Configuring_a_DMA/Setting_the_indexing_options_for_the_server-side_search.html

Do all users connect their client to the same DMA?

Hi Jeroen, thank you for your reply and suggestion.
I did think that initially, but our operators use different DMAs (we have 8 in total) and this only affects the operators who have started recently.
I also logged into all the DMAs to test and the search function behaved as it should across all DMAs for me.
