Some users have problems login in to DataMiner. As an administrator I want to figure out what is going wrong. Which logfiles are recommended to start my investigation? What keywords should I be looking for?
Hi Jens,
Starting with 9.6.0 [CU18] / 10.0.0 [CU6] / 10.0.11 (RN26586), failed logon attempts will be logged in the SLNet.txt logging as "Authentication|Had a failed authentication request from DOMAIN\Username (Appplication (<not authenticated> @ COMPUTERNAME))"
More information on logon attempts can also be found in the Windows Event Viewer of the DataMiner Agent: Windows Logs > Security will have Audit Failure entries, which can contain extra failure information in the details.
If the users are retrieved from ActiveDirectory, you can also do a search for the user names in the ActiveDirectory.txt log file.
Hi Michiel, the file doesn’t show a failed login attempt from my user
Hi Jens, I would have a look in SLNet.txt and SLClient.txt and search for the exact user names.
Hi Karel, in both log files I can only find back my own succeeded login attempts, not the failed ones
Thank you, Wouter! The log files didn’t contain any information anymore, but I found what I need in the Event Viewer
