Are DELT elements any different from elements created on the DMA besides the element ID? Do they function the same way as normal elements? Are there any known issue with associated reading or writing to/from DELT elements?
There is actually no such thing as a DELT element.
DELT: DataMiner Element Location Transparency is a feature that allows you to move an element (or service) from one DMA to another one including all dependencies (database data, alarm templates, etc).
The only way to identify an element that has been moved using DELT is the difference between the "hosting DMA id" and the "DMA id".
-Hosting DMA id is the id of the server managing the element
-DMA id is the id of the server where the element was created originally.
When I've used the DELT feature, I've realized moving elements is easier if we're not moving much data. Capacity wise, the migration process seemed faster across DMAs that were both running Cassandra DB, it worked ok across both DMAs being MySQL, not tested personally in the latest releases with MySQL to Cassandra or viceversa, with elements from Cassandra DB to MySQL, but I'd expect the latter to be not allowed within the DELT itself: any hints on this?
Is DELT performing checks over the DB type of the source and destination DMA when an element is moved? Any option to define any data to drop from Cassandra to MySQL?
