How many versions of DataMiner are supported under active M&S?

If I have valid M&S, can I continue using my older DataMiner version, say 8.5 or 9.0, because I am more comfortable with it and more used to this version? If not, why is it recommended to upgrade? How many older versions are supported, if we prefer not to upgrade?

Hello Pramod,

Our support covers up to two older main versions. At the time of writing this includes all variants of 9.5.x, 9.6.x and 10.0.x.

We are unable to support versions older than this for practical reasons, as with all software.

Also note that new driver versions are also based on the latest supported DMA versions. When we add new and/or better functionality for drivers they will be used in all our drivers as soon as this is included in “all supported versions”.

e.g. new functionality and improvements added in the software in 9.5 will become now best practices in all our drivers
This also implies that some driver updates are also not possible anymore when running an older DMA version

Thanks Marlies, your explanation is very logical. much appreciated.

There are many good reasons to upgrade to a newer version of DataMiner that have to do with fixes and stability. However, every situation is different therefore it is always recommended to discuss with Technical Account Manager who can provide more specific recommendation based on his familiarity with the system.
