MYSQL Failover system was upgraded from 9.0 to 9.5 CU12.

After upgrade, a manual failover test was initiated and attempted (3 times) to bring backup agent online (none successfully). Primary starts up very quickly.

This is typically caused by a large amount of offload files that exist on the ‘backup DMA’.  This gets somehow confirmed by the following lines: ‘Aborting open offloads…’.

Check in the following folder:

C:\Skyline DataMiner\System Cache\Local

If there are too many files, it might be interesting to understand why this specific folder holds a lot of files.  Possible options:

  • the connection towards the local MySQL DB is not good
  • there are elements generating a lot of data to be offloaded (trend or element data)
  • overload of alarm/information events
  • resource problem
  • …

The full logging will be required to perform an accurate analysis.
Based on the info available, I believe the delay is the result of outstanding content that needs to be offloaded to the database.
