Hi Dojo,

Is it possible to have a standalone timespan component in a visual that stores the selected value in a session variable?

No, the only way to achieve this is by setting up an executor monitor that watches 2 session variables and combines them in one new session variable (more info is available in the Help). These 2 session variables could be set by 2 DateTime pickers on your page.
