I'm installing a new DMA and I'm using the latest installer (10.2).
Can I upgrade directly to 10.4.0 or should I use 10.3.0 as a middle step?
The upgrade paths help page doesn't mention 10.4, and on that page it give as example to go to 10.2 first before going to 10.3 when coming from 10.1, but on that same page, there is a link to the upgrade path of 10.1 to 10.3 which doesn't mention any middle step (I'm a bit confused).
Hi,
It is possible to upgrade direct as per the above, but we officially recommend upgrading between directly subsequent major versions, e.g. 10.2.x to 10.3.x and therefore 10.3.x to 10.4.x to ensure compatibility in upgrade actions.
We will update our documentation so that this is clearer.

Hi,
Matthijs asked this question on behalf of us as a customer. We're looking for an official instruction for how to new install 10.4 and it's still not quite clear to us exactly which packages we need to install.
We're following a Main release track. We have already installed ASP.NET Core 8.0 Runtime (v8.0.1) - Windows Hosting Bundle Installer. Would that be a problem when first installing earlier versions of DM or does it work since it's a later .NET version?
Hi Matthijs,
when I tried upgrading directly from 10.2 to 10.4 I ran in to issue with one of the verification steps getting stuck, I had the same issue on 2 laptops. Issue was resolved by upgrading to 10.3.12 before upgrading to 10.4. I would suggest installing Cloud pack with .NET6, or standalone .NET6, before the upgrade because some modules will fail to install. On one laptop I installed cloud pack before upgrading and upgrade finished with 0 errors, on the other one I did it after the upgrade and upgraded finished with few errors, related to specific modules.
If there is no information available for your specific DataMiner upgrade path and you are using a currently supported DataMiner version, follow this general guideline: Upgrade to the next major DataMiner version(s) before upgrading to your preferred version. For example, go from DataMiner 10.1 to 10.2 before proceeding to 10.3 (preferred version).
Hope this helps,
Cheers
