In DataMiner 10.1 CU4, I have noticed many-a-times that SLNet does not start when a DMA restart is performed, the status is shown as 'Starting' in task manager but it does not start. The SLNet log file is also empty.
I have performed the unregister and re-register dataminer and dlls but the issue persists. Only a server reboot seems to resolve this, which is extreme. Is this a known issue ? What can be done/checked to ensure SLNet starts ?

When the SLNet process crashes it will create a separate logfile SLNet.crash.txt. Can you check if this file exists in C:\Skyline DataMiner\Logging?
I would also check the following logfiles:
- SLErrors.txt
- SLWatchdog2.txt
- SLNet.txt (if in your case it doesn't exist, SLNet_BAK.txt)
Other than that you can also check the Application (under Windows Logs) and DataMiner logs (under Applications & Services) in the Windows Event Viewer.
