Hi
We have installed and set up the Skyline Alerter which displays certain alarms in a ‘balloon’ for 20 seconds on the wall and also creates an audible alarm for 5 seconds via an attached speaker on that PC.
The audible alerting seems to work ok but appears to be random. However, the balloon warning does not seem to work. MS Focus Assist is configured on this PC and is set for off. I know this can affect the generation of notifications etc. But can I please have any docs relating to the standard PC set up for a PC hosting the Skyline Alerter app. And of course and pointers in releation to this issue would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Ken,
You can see here more details about the Skyline Alerter installation and configuration: DMS Alerter | DataMiner Docs
Unfortunately I don't have any pointers to the problem that you're reporting. Can you clarify how the audible alerting is being random? Is it like, sometimes it works and other it doesn't? Or does it 'beep' even when there's no alarm active?
A good idea to troubleshoot is to simplify your setup in the Alerter tool to a simple driver where you have control of the alarms to easily test the notifications and ballons.
Hi.. Thanks for the reply. I have set up my laptop with the same configuration as the offending workstation (Windows 10). I am wondering if there is a Windows environment setting that should be set to allow notifications.
So basically on my workstation, the audible sound works and the ballon appears. On the offending workstation, the audible sound works but the balloon does not.
