We intend to use failover with virual ip and thus require the WinPCap replacement NPCap. A question from our IT department is if NPCap should be installed in "WinPcap API-compatible Mode" or not.

In general Npcap is designed to be compatible with the WinPcap API. The compatible mode has been designed to work with the more legacy functions which I don't believe DataMiner Failover is relying on.
Because it's also not specifically mentioned in the DataMiner installation guide when referring to installing Npcap, I don't believe it is required.
