MediaOps 1.5.1 : Requirements

Dojo,

I recently installed MediaOps v1.5.1 and was required to install two additional packages:

  1. Standard Data Model Registration (SDMR)
  2. Categories

I am trying to understand a bit better what functional purpose these packages serve other than at face value being a repository of certain types of information.

The SDMR seems clear but Categories not so much ?

Hi Wale,

Categories are used to put the Resource Pools in a certain category. This can be used in the Scheduling application to filter your pools on the Resource View page.

There is additional info available in the release notes: https://docs.dataminer.services/release-notes/MediaOps/MediaOps_Plan/MediaOps_Plan_1.5.1.html#resource-pool-categories-id-44534

Hi Jens,
Small question. Most probably I am missing the big picture, but if the Categories package will only be used to move resource pools in a specific category, why this functionality was not included in the MediaOps package?

Jens Vandewalle [SLC] [DevOps Advocate] commented 9 hours ago

Hi Miguel,
Categories is a solution that is also used by Live and might be used by other solutions/projects.
If we include it we can run into situations where we accidently overwrite another version of the installed package.
