Is it possible to assign a virtual IPs on a 3rd NIC in a failover system? We have a customer that set their network up as follows:
NIC 1 - DataMiner standard Coprorate - Used for Cube access ( Has a VIP assigned )
NIC 2 - DataMiner standard Acquisition - Used for Failover synchronization ( Has a VIP assigned but is not needed)
NIC 3 - Used for all device polling/communication and Local Cube access ( Needs a VIP )
In this setup is it possible to assign a VIP to NIC 3 that DataMiner will manage just like VIPs assigned to the standard Corp and Acquisition NICs.
If NOT, is there a way to change the current setup with having to break and reconfigure failover from scratch?
Thanks
Hi Jeff,
This is possible from the "virtual IP addresses" tab under the advanced failover configuration.
The advanced configurations are also documented in the DataMiner help.
Hi Jeff,
My pleasure!
You can rest assure that DataMiner will take care of the VIPs for all configured interfaces.
Ive, do you know if this use case has been tested, and if NOT could HQ test this to ensure it works as expected and does not have any unexpected side effects?
Thanks
We tried to implement this change on a customer system last night and DataMiner did NOT allow this. We had to end up removing a VIP from one of the other NICs in order to make the necessary change.
Ive, Thanks for your response. Neither us or our TAM were sure if DataMiner failover logic would actually manage a VIP assigned to a NIC other than the standard Corporate or Acquisition NICs.
Thanks again
