Currently, the number of backups to retain is configurable at the DMS level. However, I would like to know if it's possible to set a custom backup configuration per agent within the cluster?
Hi Christine
By default, the backup configuration should be synchronized throughout the cluster.
However I tested this on my local cluster.
It turns out that the "number of backups to keep" can be customized manually (i.e. stopping the agent, manually adjust, restart agent). I tested this for the schedule as well, but this change got reverted after the midnight sync.
IMPORTANT NOTE!
- This manual adjustment was LOST when I made any kind of change in the backup settings.
- Moreover, these kind of manual adjustments are never recommended! It's better to suggest a new feature via DataMiner Feature Suggestions - DataMiner Dojo
I took the liberty to search for any similar suggestions and the following seems relevant, but then on DMA level: Backup process in a DMA – ability to specify more options than what is currently defined in the GUI – DataMiner Dojo
=> You could either add a comment, to extend the customization towards cluster level or simply create a fully new feature suggestion.
