Is it possible to change the DMA ID of an agent in a DMS

During the installation the wrong DMA ID was picked for a failover pair.
The agent was added into the DMS and elements are already on the agent.
Is it possible to change the DMA ID without losing the elements/trending?

We had the following procedure in mind:

  • Remove the failover
  • Clean the failover
  • Remove the agent from the DMS
  • Change the DMA ID
  • Add the DMA again into the DMS
  • Add the failover again

If the wrong ID was chosen for both agents for the failover pair, you cannot just keep the elements when you need to make changes to the DMA ID of both of them.

I would suggest to take export from the elements so you can import them again once the failover pairs are included again with new ID.

Similar as you would export these elements on a new system.

Are it only elements that have already been created ?

Thanks for your feedback Koen.
This seems indeed the best solution, I will verify if services are created on the system.
Exporting the elements seems indeed a safer option.
Then we would do the following:
– Create the export of the elements
– Remove the failover
– Clean the Failover + Change DMA ID
– Remove the agent from the DMS
– Clean the agent and correct the DMA ID
– Add the DMA again into the DMS
– Add the Failover again
– Import the elements
