Hi all,
For IDP discovery actions, a user is trying to discover using class B network segments or smaller segments such as /23, /22, etc. and at some point the action gives a timeout.
Is there any documented metric or best practice to discover network segments?
Does the discovery action have a specific timeout that could be increased easily?
Thanks.
Hi Edson,
There isn't a fundamental metric for discovering network segments as it greatly depends on the network's performance.
But if you are experiencing timeouts it could be your discovery process is a lengthy one either because it requires several requests to achieve a match or because the network is not fast enough to keep up.
In any case, you can adjust the following IDP Discovery setting to see if helps
The first 2 settings are very similar to the ones you can configure on an element and refer to the time to wait for a response from the device and how many times to retry in case we fail.
The 3rd setting is the whole discovery process max duration and is used to prevent an infinite discovery, but can be adjusted to account for different networks and scan sizes.
Hope this can help you.
