How to migrate a Service Template between DMAs?

633 views27th March 2025DMS migrate migration service template

We need to migrate multiple service templates from a DMA that will be decommissioned to another DMA in the same DMS. The service templates do have generated services and will be used as before.

Is the process same as when migrating a standard service (export, delete, import)? Or are there any other specific steps needed?

Thanks.

Hi Martin,

I believe there is already a similar question:
Service Templates between DMS

Hope it helps.

Hi Miguel,

thanks for the tip, however, this is not exactly our scenario. We need to migrate the template within the same DMS. So we need to delete it on old DMA before importing on the new DMA.

The service template delete action produces a warning that the “generated services will be unlinked.” Which is a problem.

Is there any way to migrate the service template between DMAs while preserving the link of generated services to the template? So that the same template can be “reapplied” on those services already created?

Thank you.
