how to make ‘history tracking’ persistent for alarm console in element cards

I am looking for a way to make the ‘history tracking’ persistent over sessions for all Alarm console’s in all element cards.

I have been looking for a relevant entry in the settings menu but I can not find anything relating to history tracking.

In the system alarm console the setting is persistent, but in element cards I have to re-activate this time after time and this is very frustrating.

If anyone can hint a golden tip to achieve this ??

Hi Bert - thanks for your feedback.

I would indeed like to have history tracking enabled when adding a history tab. A good workaround could be to add by default a 24hrs history tab via de settings, but unfortunately I do not succeed to have the settings applied. For an unknown reason whatever I configure is settings does not seem to be applied and is gone next time I consult the settings. If you want I'll be happy to demonstrate.

I can reproduce this issue. It’s also not saving my settings of the alarm tab pages on element card level… @Michael, can you take a look at this?

I can reproduce this issue as well and I will look for a fix.

I do want to point out that adding a history tab in the settings is not possible. You can only add this manually in your alarmconsole but they are not remembered. So creating a history tabpage with the history tracking turned on by default is not possible.

smells like a new story than…

Well, note that adding a ‘history’ tab page in the settings does not make any sense, because a ‘history’ tab page has a fixed start and end time. Next week it doesn’t make sense to see the alarms of the last hour of today… That is why those type of history pages are not being stored in the settings.

What we want, is a ‘sliding window’ tab page. If you add a ‘sliding window’ tab page of the last hour, it will always be the last hour of that moment in time. So, if we can add such a tab page, I think we should have a reasonable solution…

Appologies Bert, I did mean last day tab…

But still even for an ‘afterwards added’ tab I still think it wuld be very nice to allow history tracking by default ;-). But let us first see how far we get once this sliding window thing is working.

Hi Hans,

If you open the settings app, you will see a section "Alarm Console" and as a subsection you will see "Card-specific". Here you can define which tabpages you want to see for an elementcard and you can configure all the options of the tabpage (including the history tracking).

Hi Hans,

History tracking should be enabled by default on alarm tab pages showing current alarms or a sliding window. Alarm tab pages with history alarms will have this history tracking disabled by default. This behavior should be the same in the system alarm console at the bottom of Cube and in the element/view/service cards.

Like Michael mentioned in his answer, you can configure this option in the user settings, but I believe you can only do this for existing tab pages. If you add a new tab page during your session, it will again use the default settings to start from.

Not sure what your use case is exactly. Are you adding a new tab page with history alarms in an element card? This will indeed have history tracking disabled, since it concerns history alarms. This is the same behavior as fetching history alarms in the system alarm console. The default, existing alarm tab pages on an element card should have history tracking enabled. And also adding tab pages with current alarms or a sliding window in an element card should have history tracking enabled. Not sure if that's the case.

If you have any feedback, please add a comment to this answer.

Hi Hans,

This is the only way to have the history tracking consistent between all the element cards. Maybe you can contact your TAM to see what the issue is and create a task for this.
