Does NPCap work with only local administrator rights?

Normally our IT department install NPCap so that it can only be run with local administrator permissions, and will not work for a normal user account. Will this work for Dataminer Failover with VIP configuration or do we need to install it so it works with a normal user account?

Hi Roger,

This should be fine. Winpcap/Npcap is only used by the SLSendGARP tool. This tool gets executed from SLDataMiner when it needs to acquire the VIP after a failover switch. As SLDataMiner runs as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM it has the necessary Administrator privileges.

If anything would go wrong, it will be logged in SLDataMiner.txt/SLErrors.txt with message “Failed to send out Gratuitous ARP message for added IP address”.
