Delete multiple templated services at once

245 views7th January 2025service templates

We have 3 service templates with in total 1000 templated services.
Now we have to remove 500 of these templated service at once.

These templated services are divided into several views. The remaining services are in the same views.
So it is not easy to select all services in a view and delete them, because then we have to select in every view the services we want to delete.

We have exported the configuration of the service templates to csv files. In this files we can select the services to delete with excel filtering.

is there a way to easily remove the templated services with this csv file?

Or is there an other way to delete the 500 templated services at once?

Hi Gerrit,

If you just open a View card on your root view, on the side bar of the view card you can select the second option (a icon with an arrow pointing downwards right - BELOW THIS VIEW), and this gives you a list of all elements, services, etc. depending on your selection (also the ones in any sub views).

On the right-hand side bottom, you also have a filter selection, and on the top right you have a filter field where you can filter on names.  This way you should be able to get a list of all your services, and do a multiple select and delete them.

Was this what you were looking for?

I don't think this is a convenient solution. I still have to manually select the 500 services to be deleted (in a list of 2500 services total). That is very time-consuming job and it increases the chance of errors.
I would have hoped that there was an option to delete all 500 services at once with the exported csv file.
Just as you can generate many services at once with importing a csv file in a service template, it would be convenient to be able to delete them at once.

Hi Gerrit – thank you for your feedback, and sorry to hear that this is not exactly what you were looking for. Just to make sure though, in that list view you can also do multiple select (and use SHIFT-click to select a group of services), and perform a single delete action for all the selected items at once (similar to how you would have to select the proper ones in an Excel list). And not sure if the services can be identified by name and to what extent the top right filter allows you to filter out the proper 500 services to easily select them as a group, to then perform a single delete action.
