DataMiner upgrade option “Reboot After Upgrade” – does it trigger Windows updates?

Hello Dojo,

This is a follow-up to the question How to combine DataMiner upgrade along with server reboot – DataMiner Dojo.

The purpose of rebooting a server after upgrading DataMiner in our case is finalizing Windows updates. However, I am concerned that the reboot triggered by DataMiner may merely restart the OS without implying the option “update and restart Windows”.

Can anyone confirm if Windows updates will be applied when the option “Reboot After Upgrade” is enabled?

Hi,

In general, when using the “Reboot After Upgrade”, the server is just being restarted, and not upgraded.

What can be done to get to this result:

If your systems are managed centrally, e.g. (WSUS, Intune, or WUfB),  you can ensure that updates are (1) Downloaded and ready and (2) Marked as “Pending install” or “Pending reboot” in WSUS or Intune.  If that is the case, then the “Reboot After Upgrade” will make sure the updates are installed.
