Currently DataMiner supports autologin method for the gmail as SMTP server. Can OAuth 2.0 (https://oauth.net/2/) be used for the login authentication instead?
If it's not supported, are there any plans for providing such a mechanism in the future?

DataMiner currently does not support XOAUTH2 as authentication method.
This indeed causes problems when trying to setup a connection to GMail (The “access from less secure apps” option needs to be enabled in GMail settings), as well as for Outlook 365 (smtp.office365.com)
We have a task to add support for this.

XOAUTH2 is now supported with the latest feature release (10.1.8) which is already available: https://community.dataminer.services/downloads/
If you want to wait for the main release it will be available from DataMiner version 10.2.0
