Cube loading speed decrease (eventually partly becoming unresponsive)

We've experienced a decrease in loading speed of parameter values (element data in general) in tables and visuals, probably since the last DM update (or major Cube update). This varies and is not a exactly reproducible nor showing a constant behavior, but the overall experience is that the loading speed has gone down and the behavior is more laggy, especially after starting up Cube or opening a visual/table the first time in a session. Eventually this partly leads to Cube being unresponsive, just today this got much worse...
Anyone else experiences such issues in the last weeks?

We're still in the process of investigating, but I assume this has been caused by excessive use of system resources, after creating a bunch of services / enhanced elements. After deleting these again the overall behavior seems to have normalized – so this probably is more of an individual issue than a general one. 🙂 :-/

Hi Nils,

Thanks for raising this.

What you describe is generally expected when a DMA environment keeps growing over time (more services, elements, alarms, events, and overall load): Cube has more data to process and visualize, so responsiveness can gradually decrease in some views or workflows.
This can happen as the system scales and is not necessarily a sign of a fault in Cube itself.

However, if you’re experiencing a significant impact on daily operations, the best next step is to open a Skyline Support ticket. The team will then review your specific environment and determine if this is normal scaling behavior or an issue that needs to be addressed.

Hi Luís,
thanks a lot for your feedback!
As I mentioned in my comment above already (and this was confirmed within the days that followed), in this case the behavior was related to the creation of services using a custom tailored service protocol as well as some issue manifesting itself in case a child element of said services is hosted by the same DMA – this is currently under investigation by Robin Meurisse.
Anyway, reaching out to support indeed helped a lot – shoutout to everyone involved! 🙂
