I expect it's not possible, but before I suggest it as a new feature - is it possible to set different Cube banner colors for different DMSs?
So the production DMS can remain a default blue, but a staging DMS shows as green - so I don't accidentally change parameters on production thinking that it's the staging system!
Hi Dave,
I believe it is not possible to change the Cube's banner color. As a workaround, you could set a specific background theme for staging and another one for production system.
Hope it helps.
Hi Dave,
please make sure enable the "Show cluster name" in the Cube Header Bar. Hopefully this can also help a bit.
Thanks for the suggestion Karel. I do have that configured, but I’m still paranoid that I’m going to control the wrong system!
Yes, fully understand your concern.
Thanks for creating the feature suggestion!
Hi,
If the main reason is to avoid accidently changing parameter values on a production system, there might be some extra obstacles that can be configured besides a different UI theme:
- In the Cube settings, it can be configured to always display a confirmation box (this is by default activated). See this help section option "Never ask for confirmation after setting parameter value" . I would definitely advise to have the confirmation active on a production setup.
- Another possibility could be to remove the write rights from your user. This can be done by e.g. under the rights General->Elements->Data Display->View write parameters, or per element under the view security to disable the "Write" checkbox. If a value needs to be set then either enable the write rights again (but don't forget to disable it afterwards), or login with a different user (such as the Administrator) that has the write rights
Hi Dave,
As Miguel suggests, changing the background theme might indeed result in enough of a visual difference to avoid mixing up the two systems. In total, there are three themes available.
