Hi all,

I wonder if we can combine today two factor authentication (external users) with local users. This was not possible in the past (see also this question), not sure what the situation is for today.

Regards, Koen

Hi Koen,

This should be possible since RN34396 (DataMiner 10.2.11+).

Note that in case you use SAML authentication it won’t be possible to use the web apps with a local account.

Koen Cools [SLC] [DevOps Member] commented 5th October 2023

Jens, if I understand it correctly, local users will not work for web apps when I’m using also Azure AD (SAML).

Wim Bruynooghe [SLC] [DevOps Advocate] commented 5th October 2023

Correct. For the web apps, if SAML is configured, it’s not possible anymore to login with a local user, since the web app will instantly redirect to the SAML identity provider. A workaround could be to have a DataMiner cluster, where one DMA is configured with SAML, and another agent is configured with local authentication. Then it’s still possible to login with a local user when opening the web app from the DMA that is not configured with SAML.
