Can DataMiner main and failover nodes be deployed across different availability zones?

Can the main DataMiner node be deployed in one AWS AZ with the failover pair in a different AZ? What are the potential risks in doing so?

If I recall correctly, a subnet cannot span multiple AWS availability zones, meaning the main & backup agent would reside in a different subnet, which makes it impossible to share a virtual IP. So keep in mind you’ll have to configure failover with hostnames instead. For more information please see Ip Address or HostName.

This is possible, as long as you ensure the latency between the different AZs is below the defined maximum value.
