Hi Guys
I've been facing some issues with backups when is not too much space on the C drive, and the backup is configured to be placed on a different driver or a network path, seems that this option is not working as it presented to the user, because if you select any of these options (different drive/network path). Keep doing a temp file on C
So still you need enough space to allocate this file in a temporary and if you haven't you will end up with errors and no backup created.
I tried selecting both options local path on an E drive and network path where the backup should be copied but is still doing the temp file on C:\Windows\Temp
Is there a way to complete this without using the C drive?
Thanks
Hi Jaime,
Please check the answer elaborated by Alexander in this question:
Backup folder is not used when renamed. How does this work?
There is no way to change the location of the temporary files, however there is a workaround using a symbolic link. If you plan to proceed with a workaround, I would recommend to test it first in a Staging environment.
Hi Jaime,
Indeed, making a symbolic link to a OS folder is not recommended. This folder is also used by other OS processes and this action could potentially break some OS activities.
Hi Miguel Thanks for your comments and indeed I made a MOP to use symbolic links to try to address this issue time ago but the problem is that Dataminer not only uses the default path: C:Skyline DataminerBackup is also using C:WindowsTemp folder to create the temporal files. I was thinking that maybe we can create another symbolic link to this other folder but I think is not recommendable because it’s an OS folder, what do you think?
