User Group Prevalence or Switch

Solved1.29K views12th July 2023Alarm Console User Group

Hi Dojo,

Some Users are part of different Groups in Dataminer and this is good for accessing Views and for having different Privilege.

But, how do I chose which Layout that is associated with the Group to be the default one for a user.

I will take my example: I am part of two Groups and I would like either to switch from one to another or to just chose one as a default Group, because each Group has different Alarm Console Tab Layouts.

Thanks.

This normally gives the union of the 2 groups to the user in terms of views and privileges (server-side): curious about the different layout of the console as this is still based on groups but on the Cube client – so, to speak, from “group A” console & “group B” console, what do you get by default? A or B?
The first group the user was part of or the last one added to the user?

Subscribing, though personally I prefer letting the user choose the kind of Console Tab layout he prefers

Hi

I tested which settings get applied when a User is in multiple groups. It seems like the settings that get applied depend on the order in which the User became member of a group. The first group where the user became a member will be the group used for the settings.

For example, let’s say there are 3 groups with different settings: group1, group2 and group3:

  • If I were to add a user to group1 first, then to group2 and then to group3. The applied settings would be those of group1.
  • If I were to add a user to group3 first, then to group2 and then to group1. The applied settings would be those of group3.
  • If I were to add a user to group3 first, then to group2 and then to group1. The settinsg of group3 would be applied. If I now were to remove the User from group3, the applied settings will be those of group2 (the group where the user has been a member the longest, not considering group3 anymore).

So, when a user is part of multiple groups with each their own settings, it’s not possible to choose which settings get applied. The applied settings will be the settings of the group where the user has been a member of the longest.

Kind regards,

Hi all, Hi Alberto.

I wanted to make thinks interesting. So,

1. On the first picture I was part of two groups: Alias MOM_BUC (this one has Settings inside for the Alarm Console) and  EHA_Administrators (which didn’t had any Alarm Console Settings). Since EHA Administrators had no settings it makes sense to see the settings from the one that had.

2. I added myself into a new group that had Settings for the Alarm Console: EHA_MCR_SM (as you can see in the picture above this one has settings)

The result ?

No change what so ever.  I am still seeing the old group that  Settings. But I would like to chose ?!

Thanks.
