What process should be followed for changing the IP address on an existing failover server (the offline server) and replacing the server hardware with a different IP address? The pair are in a cluster.
Should the existing failover be ended from the server that is being keep Ending a Failover configuration | DataMiner Docs and then the “Clean” server added with the new IP address using the Failover Config, then allowing DataMiner to carry out a full sync or:
Can the existing offline DMA (that needs replacing) be stopped and the new clean DMA with a different IP address be started. Then within the failover configuration just change the IP address of the offline agent to match the new clean server IP address? Assuming this would update the DMS.xml with the new IP address.
In a production environment I would recommend you take the following steps:
- As you already stated; End the failover configuration.
- Setup your new DMA server and add it back as a failover pair. See Failover configuration guide.
If you are not using a Cassandra Cluster setup, you can follow this procedure for this: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/DataMiner_Agents/Configuring_a_DMA/Changing_the_IP_of_a_DMA.html#failover-dma-in-a-dms
