CPU usage on Virtual Infrastructure for DMA

Solved1.00K views18th October 2023cpu usage Virtual Infrastructure virtualization

From reading the documentation on using virtual infrastructure there is a section that states.

Make sure you assign enough CPU power to keep the CPU usage under 50%

Now is that 50% average or 50% max for a stated period of time as it does not go into details?

Currently have a DMA which spikes above 50% max a number of times per day and it not really loaded up with elements.

Hi Richard,

It's more referring to the average. It's no problem to go above 50% now and then. You should just make sure you have sufficient margin on the DMA for client requests and occasional actions on the DMA.

I’ve adjusted the documentation so this will be clear now. https://github.com/SkylineCommunications/dataminer-docs/pull/2139/files

Hi Richard - that would be average.  So, when running nominal so to speak, it is recommended to have a DMA running at 50% (so that it can still accommodate the load for more sporadic intermittent activities).  Spikes above 50% are absolutely no problem and to be expected.
