Is there a way to add a time filter to the Dashboard Spectrum Buffer?

Today with Visio shape data we can link a Spectrum Buffer to History Mode to display different captured Spectrum buffers based on the date/time selected.  I tried adding a time range/timespan feed to the dashboard, however, the system would not allow me to apply the timespan to the Spectrum Buffer data.  Is there any way we can allow the user to select the timeframe of Spectrum Buffer to display?
