Hi,
Currently the Monitoring App is really simple and straightforward; however, I have been asked whether it is possible or not to filter a view by a specific element (or anything really).
Is this filter option
on the roadmap for the Monitoring App? Is this roadmap available?
In a broader sense, when is it more useful to use the Monitoring App instead of the standard DataMiner Cube?
Thank you for your help.
Correct, the Monitoring app within the mobile suite is simply and straightforward, and it is really meant to be like that. This is targeted at the more occasional user, who's primary occupation is not monitoring and operations, but rather people with other roles that can also benefit from being able to easily access certain live data on managed resources. But of course the Monitoring app continues to evolve, and we are always evaluating suggestions for improvements. Additional filtering as you suggest might indeed be of interest (note that you do have a generic search field at the top, if you are looking for a specific managed element, you will find it there also immediately - if you are looking to filter down the list, that's of course a different use case).
For sake of completeness, the Cube desktop application is of course recommended for people that really do intensive monitoring & operations work. And in general, we have a policy that the Monitoring app is limited to common tasks in the context of monitoring & control, and it will therefore not support any of the administrative capabilities (e.g. add / delete elements, create views, do alarm threshold editing, etc.). Just FYI, because you're suggestion obviously still falls within the intended scope of the Monitoring app.
Thank you for your feedback Ben, now it is clear to me the purpose of the app and how, in the future, similar apps can be an added value for the DataMiner ecosystem. I will pass this information along.
