I'm quite new at this and I need some help. I'm trying to build some basic dashboards to make DataMiner more usable for our operators. I'm trying to get all of our services, sort them by transport stream, attach them to alarms and display then. Easy? Not so much. Everything I read points to menus that are not where they are reported to be but following the general principals outlined and a bit of trial end error I have managed to attach the services table to the streams table and to the alarms. I then display in a grid and edit the grid template to cause the services to change colour depending on the severity of the alter with red of critical and amber for minor and green for good. no matter how I arrange the joins and filters the dashboard becomes unstable, describes itself as trapped and then just becomes a series of vertical lines that sweep across the dashboard. This only stops when I remove all the joins.
Any suggestions? Good Resources or examples?
Hi Philip,
You might find these tutorials helpful.
I'd particularly recommend section 4, Visualizing the data. A few tutorials that could be relevant to your use case are:
- Kata #4: Build your first GQI
- Kata #5: Transform data with GQI
- Kata #14: Transform your tables with templates
- Kata #16: Introducing grid components
- Kata #52: Build an alarm dashboard for your daily DMS health check
Regarding missing menus or options, these may be due to differences between DataMiner versions or features that are not enabled (e.g. SoftLaunch features).
You can find an overview of the available visualizations and their features in the docs.
