Installation of .NET 6 has been included in the latest releases of DataMiner (10.3.3 and above). The DataMiner requirements suggest running the latest version of .NET, but the version requirements for newer DataMiner releases are vague.
Do the latest versions of DataMiner require both .NET 5 and 6? Or, can 5 be safely removed as it has reached EOL according to Microsoft?
.NET 5 is currently still required for some modules, which means that it is currently required to have both .NET 5 and .NET 6 installed on DataMiner agents. (Note that having .NET 6 installed does not mean that it can run .NET 5 applications out of the box. Each version is a separate instance)
DataMiner upgrade packages contain these installs and will install the required .NET version(s) when required as part of upgrade actions.
Wouter,
Is there a Dataminer Upgrade package that does not include .NET 5? If not, when will there be a package available? .NET 5 and ASP.NET 5 present critical security vulnerabilities as it is no longer maintained by its vendor or provider. Lack of support implies that no new security patches for the product will be released by the vendor. As a result, it may contain security vulnerabilities so Dataminer needs to be independent of .NET 5.
Hi John,
Currently there is no such build available yet. We do have an internal task open (ref 210113) to get rid of the .NET 5 dependencies.
Is .Net 3.5 still required for 10.2 and newer? I still see the System Display log in the 10.2 installer but afaik System Display is no longer supported in 10.2.
