Is it possible to show a filtered alarm table in a Visio view? I understand that this is possible with Dashboards but I do not find any documentation on adding it to a Visual Overview. The alarms (actually information events) I'd like to display come from the Dataminer alarm list. The goal is to show a log of switch events (main/backup) of a 2x1 protection switch.
Hi Add,
It's a good idea to make use of the Dashboard module to embed this into your Visual Overview.
You can either embed the full dashboard (Specifying data input in a dashboard URL | DataMiner Docs) or you can embed an individual component (Linking a shape to a dashboard component | DataMiner Docs).
Kind Regards,
Jarno
Hi again, I’m unable to copy the URL from the dashboard. When I right click the component, all I see is Back, Forward, Print… and View page source.
I followed the instructions here but most do not match with what I see on my Dataminer (we’re using version 10.1.5.0) – https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Modules/Dashboards_app/Creating_and_configuring_dashboards/Embedding_a_dashboard_component_in_a_webpage_or_Visio_drawing.html.
Also, if I am able to embed the alarm list from a Dashboard into the Visual Overview, will that be visible on the Cloud Sharing platform?
Hi Wade,
1) Have you followed step 2 of the procedure? You need to be in ‘edit mode’ to get to the right context menu
2) The Visual Overview can be seen in the Monitoring app. The Dashboard can be seen in the Dashboard app. This means that users can connect to these modules via the cloud connection. If you share your dashboard through the share functionality, non-DataMiner users are also able to see this information.
Hi Jarno,
Edit mode seems to open when I click ‘configure components’, so I would say that my answer is yes. But in case I’ve missed something you can download the screenshot from here https://we.tl/t-LyCCT1ZkmF. It doesn’t look like I can attached a file to the chat here.
Thanks for your answer about the Dashboard sharing.
Hi Wade Press, you are using the legacy Reports & Dashboards module. You can also opt to use more recent HTML Dashboard application.
You can access the new Dashboards app via the link https://[MyDataMiner]/dashboard or http://[MyDataMiner]/dashboard, depending on your setup.
Note
We recommend to use Google Chrome to access the Dashboards app. Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Safari are also supported.
Thanks for the quick reply Jarno! I’ll give that a try.
Kind regards,
Wade
