System Center – Information Events as a built-in change-log?

Solved355 views29th August 2024adl2099 Cube Logging information events System Center

Please, Dojo,
is System Center generating any information events (or can it be configured to do so) when cluster settings need to be updated? Or is there a dedicated area in “System Center > Logging” for the same purpose?

Looking for a way to quickly trace (user/timestamps) when cluster configurations are changed,
such as enabling/disabling SNMP forwarding, changing the content of Back-Up files or the schedule…

We currently log this kind of operations through a separate system,
but keen to know if we can have some traces directly available in DM too.

Operations of interest for our use-case would be:

1) changes of config on SNMP forwarding;
2) changes to the BACK-UP configuration;
3) users added / edited or removed;
4) change of VISIO files (this is not done via System Center, but it’s a similar use-case on our end).

Any recommended way to quickly query this info would also be helpful.

Hi Alberto,

You could have a look at the reserved IDs to find the information events available:

General Parameters

Having a quick look I could find some events that should fit your use case:

  • SNMP forwarding
  • Security Edited (users added)
  • Visio updates
  • Backup (status)

Hope it helps.

Hi Miguel – having a look – I think we should be able to filter history based on the parameter names in that linked page – thanks for the prompt feedback!
