Hi, we need to add an existing DMS (12+12) to the Windows domain.
After the DMA has been swiveled into the windows domain do the local users still function without restrictions?
Which is the best sequence for making the changeover?
- Stop all Dataminers
- Perform the domain join on all windows servers
- After the necessary reboot of the windows servers, restart the Dataminer on the DMA cluster?
Hi Luis,
As far as I am aware, when you add a Windows OS to a domain controller, the server will need to be rebooted to apply this update.
Once the DMA is up and running (after the server reboot), you will need to proceed as follows:
- In System Center -> Users/Groups -> Users, you will need add existing users (button 'Add existing user') to the DMS. The available domain users should be listed in a pop-up.
- In System Center -> Users/Groups -> Groups, there are two possible options:
- You could add the domain users to the local groups already available in the DMS
- In case there are domain groups, you could add them to the DMS
More information about these options can be found in DataMiner Help - Managing User groups
Local users will still be available in the DMS. If the local users will still need to be used during the transition to domain users, keep in mind that they will probably need to include the domain name when log in to the DMS.
