Hi Support,

How many concurrent connections can the snmp manager accomodate?

Hi King, please could elaborate a bit more your question? Are you referring to SNMP Managers defined in System Center -> SNMP forwarding? Or are you referring to the SNMP trap forwarding running on the monitored devices?

King Karasha commented 4th November 2021

Hi Miguel,

I was referring to the SNMP Managers defined in System Centre -> SNMP forwarding.

Paulo has sent me a link with the instructions so all good at this point.

Hi King,

I'm not sure if this is what you want to do, if not, please try to be more specific and describe your use-case as detailed as possible.

You can configure multiple SNMP Forwarding (Dataminer will play the role of an SNMP-Agent forwarding traps to an external SNMP-Manager), please check this section in the Help and see if it helps.

Thanks Paulo.

I have configured an additional manager as per the instructions in the link you’ve shared.

How do I confirm the traps are being forwarded to the new manager?

Miguel Obregon [SLC] [DevOps Catalyst] commented 4th November 2021

Hi King,
As far as I know there is no straightforward way to check if a SNMP trap has been sent to the trap destination (from DataMiner). If you still plan to debug if a trap has been sent from a DMA, you could check the log file SLSNMPAgent.txt (System Center -> dataminer -> SNMP Agents). You will need to override the debug level to 6 (Development Logging). Whenever a trap is sent to the external NMS, an entry will be added to the this log file.

When validating this type of integration (DataMiner able to send traps to an external NMS), we normally run a package capture application (e.g. Wireshark) to confirm that the trap has been received to the external NMS
