The Live Sharing Service does not require / does not use the replication capability that we already had.  The replication capability will also continue to be supported, as it serves a different set of use cases as compared to the Live Sharing Service.  Note that while the Live Sharing Service has now focused on sharing a Dashboard, we have plans to extend support for other types of shares.  This can potentially include also a DataMiner-to-DataMiner type of share, which as a result will have a similar outcome as a replication set-up.  But currently we do not have this on the horizon yet, as we want to focus on other Live Sharing Service capabilities.
