Good afternoon all.

Our event management platform is having a hard time dealing with alarms that is sent via SNMP Managers with a Root Alarm ID of 0 as it thinks all those alarms are the same thing.

Are these actual valid alarms? From what I can see it does not look like it. We use this Root Alarm ID (oid iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.8813.1.1.2.4.1.11) to determine when the same alarm went from an Open to a Close.

Thank you.

Hi Johannes,

Alarms with rootID 0 are indeed not valid alarms. Usually the rootID should be equal to the AlarmID if it is a New alarm, or equal to the AlarmID of the first alarm in the tree (if the alarm updates).

It sounds like an issue in the way the alarms are generated and may indicate a bug in the software. I would recommend to open a case with support to investigate this further to see where and how these get created and if necessary provide a fix.

Kind regards,
